Rejection Leads To New Direction

Every journey in our life consists of stages and every stages consists of lessons. When God talks personally to us, he talks to us from the perspective of our future. If our book of life consists of 1001 pages, he will talk to us from the last page as if we have already achieved his purposes for us even though we may be a nobody at this present moment, this is because God knows exactly where we are heading and he knows his purpose for us.

"These are the journeys of the sons of Israel, by which they came out from the land of Egypt by their armies, under the leadership of Moses and Aaron. Moses recorded their starting places according to their journeys by the command of the LORD, and these are their journeys according to their starting places." - Numbers 33:1-2

Many people absolutely detest change, even a slight change of their computing equipment will cause them to immediately despise and resist at the slightest instant of change. It doesn't make them bad, this only makes them vulnerable as human beings. What many of us don't realized is that it is not the change that affects us but it is the transition.

It is possible for a person to change but not transit to the next stage of life. A man and a woman can get married, but the man could still be living an irresponsible life as if he was still single, always going out with his buddies late at night to drink and just allow his faithful wife to wait for him at home, though marriage has changed his status from single to married but it did not cause him to transit from playing a single role to a married role.

"What God has joined together, let man not separate." - Mark 10:9

I would like to call this the stage of being a responsible husband to your spouse and the lesson to be learn is that we are no longer two but one when we are married, therefore, everything we do in our life we need to consider and consult our spouse beforehand as our actions and words will affect our spouse whether directly or indirectly. One important factor we need to understand is that change is fast but transition is always a slow process.

It is essential that we recognize that every stage in our life, there will be one or two big lessons to be learn, once we have learn that lesson, God will say "Ok, that's great ! You have got what I wanted you to learn, we can move on to the next stage now."

Many of us in our lives have to kiss a lot of frogs before we finally find the prince, we often find ourselves doing the the things we don't enjoy such as working in a job we detest just so it can pay the bills and dragging our heavy feet to school so that we can sit for dreadful exams just so we can obtain good paper qualification. I term this as the stage of slogging for a job you don't like or studying in a subject you detest and the lesson is responsibility as work generates money which is than used to pay for bills and put food on the table. Well, I got good news for you, if you find yourself caught in that rat race, you are perfectly normal because majority of the world's population is in the same situation as us, they work to live and not live to work, we often go to jobs we don't like and slog just so we can pay the bills.

God's Teaching

1. He will give us bread for now

2. He will give us seed for going on with life

As mentioned earlier, God writes our book of life backwards, he enters if from our future and not our past. A key element in life is never ever take a photograph of our life. If we freeze frame our life, we will always relate and reflect our present to that frame in our mind taken in the past. We should always remember, our past is never equal to our future.

"He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world." - 1 John 4:4

Destiny is God's best idea for our life. Some of us may understand our life last year from where are presently standing now. When we look back we may understand the series of events that took place but back then we were caught in the entanglement or struggle we were blinded by it all.

People leaves us all the time and we also leave people all the time. It is important that when we leave someone, we leave well. In such desperate moments we may cry out "Why Lord do those people close to our hearts have to abandon us and leave us ?"

Ask yourself this question "Who do you think you are, why should people stay with you ?" Well, people left Jesus right and he was perfect, so what makes us so special they won't leave us. I would like to call this the stage of people leaving you and the lesson to be learn is that "Our rejection is our new direction" sometimes it is when we are rejected that we are redirected to a new door that has been opened and awaits us.

"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to His purpose." Romans 8:28

Instead of questioning the reason why we were rejected, we should instead be thankful that we have been redirected as God has something or someone greater install for us in our life and he is going to bring us from glory to glory.
Everything that happens in life happens for a reason, the resulted outcome should serve us, sometimes there may be delay gratification.

My personal experience is that when I have lost everything that I ever thought was important to me, that is the exact moment when I realized having Jesus alone is more than enough for my life. Lord says to me "What would it be like for you to go through such wilderness if you don't have me ?" and I agreed with Him that I would have sank deeper and deeper into depression if I had not Jesus in my heart, I am so glad I have found Him and I will never let go of Him again.

This post is a tribute to Senior Pastor Paul Scanlon of Abundant Life Ministries in Bradford UK, the largest growing church in Bradford UK currently. He came to share the word with us at City Harvest Expo last weekend. I feel so blessed after hearing his message and I am sure this word will benefit many Christians out there too !

Visited House of Shalom Indonesia, Batam

Posted by Stan Huang on Sunday, February 7, 2010 , under | comments (0)

Visited House of Shalom located on Batam Island (Indonesia) to organize a coloring contest for the kids at the home and spread some love. Baby got quite a lot of candies, chocolates and marshmallows then we packed them into small shiny bags. Sylvia also helped to get some prizes for the games. We also had the privilege of time for a short trip to visit the slumps to distribute donations to some families and pray for their needs.

"Defend the poor and fatherless; Do justice to the afflicted and needy. Deliver the poor and needy; Free them from the hand of the wicked." - Psalm 82:3-4

Our heart goes out to the street kids and families living in the slumps. We would like to thank Jesus for opening the door of opportunity for us to shine His light into the land of Indonesia, thanks to Jacey for having us and sharing the wonderful word of God and special thanks to Sari for helping us to navigate through the slump area to visit the families. We must always remember that we are blessed so that we in turn can be a blessing to others, not only must we continue to love God whole heartedly, we must also continue to love people fervently.

Posted by Stan Huang on Saturday, January 30, 2010 , under | comments (0)

Our first time attending a wedding dinner together. It was Ben and Grace's wedding at Marina Mandarin. Baby look great in her newly bought black dress, high heels and tiffany necklace. There were a total of 50 plus tables, our entire cellgroup of E254 from City Harvest church was present but sitting at different tables. Bump into Sarah Chermaine from New Creation and one of my student from GIC who was one of Ben's brother too ! As you can see me faithfully peeling prawns for baby too !

Erdinger there is super cheap as it was 1 for 1 even after 9pm ! Most people go there to catch soccer matches as they have a big LCD TV with sports channel live.

Shopping Session At Orchard Road

Posted by Stan Huang on Sunday, January 17, 2010 , under | comments (0)

Met Baby early in the morning at Expo to attend church service at City Harvest by Pastor Kong. After which we headed to Queensway shopping center to grab some new year clothes, baby bought me mine first and only bright pink polo-tee as u can see in the pics and we headed down to Orchard Rd to continue shopping at Far East Plaza, Takashimaya & Mandarin Gallery, our dinner was boxes of sushi by Taka square fountain and headed for our movie "The Blind Side" at Cineleisure in the evening before heading for home. The movie was based on a true story, it was touching and humorous at certain parts, overall quite a good movie with some Christian values.

We did some shopping at Orchard ION and Takashimaya before going to Expo for CHC church service. Visited Coffee Club located at Takashimaya for muddy mud pie and ice mocha vanilla. The place was quite packed even though it was after Xmas and we still had to wait in line as you can see us browsing through the menu while queuing.

Chill Out Session At PS Cafe

Posted by Stan Huang on Monday, January 4, 2010 , under | comments (0)

Visited PS Cafe located along Dempsey Road for their desert and drinks. We ordered a double chocolate cake with ice cream and hoe garden. The place was quite crowded even though we arrived quite late, took lots of funny pictures and admired their real Christmas tree which was almost touching the ceiling.
